The collaborative work within the project will be promoted by :

  • The construction of a common theoretical and methodological framework (T1)
  • The analyses conducted on the same case studies of CoPs(T3 & T4)
  • The construction and sharing of methods and tools for analysing CoPs (T2)

Meetings will be necessary to advance on different tasks. In addition, bimestrial meetings, organised by the project coordinator, will involve all partners and will aim to follow the project advancement, and production of delivrables. Furthermore, a website will serve to share and exchange the resources of the project (corpora, tools, intermediary productions). This will be provided by M@rsouin (Network managed by Nicolas Jullien for TELECOM Bretagne), which has amongst other missions to provide communication tools for its researchers (wiki or other collaborative tools, Web site, on line survey tools, conference management tools, etc.)

In order to be able to collaborate with our spanish partner, we plan semestrial meetings, either in Paris or ???. Furthermore, visioconferences will be organised as needed to advance on specific tasks.

articulation of the different workpackages

There are different steps for the project, each one during one year.

The strategy of the project is to use FLOSS studies and field as a benchmark for the theoric work (models of structuration of a COI, models of integration into an industry, etc.) and as a first field for the development or monitoring and management tools and to extend this work to the other case studies.

Year one

  • design of semantic analyse tools, firstly on FLOSS communities, definition of the roles,
  • exploratory interviews in the other communities, to propose a first model of how they works and the tasks existing.

Year two

  • design and test (6 months-6 months) of monitoring tools for FLOSS communities,
  • design of semantic analyse tools for the other communities and surveys. Definition of the roles, study of the different models existing, proposition of a typologie for the COI, in terms of internal organization and in terms of their relationship with the institutions.

Year Three

  • design and test (6 months-6 months) of monitoring tools for the other communities,
  • evaluation of the use of the tools,
  • improvement of the analitic tools developed,
  • proposition of a second typology,
  • final report on Economics and juridical analysis of the COI.
